Peaches Plays Lovebox Festival With a Broken Foot, Gets Wheeled Around the Stage By a Naked Chick With a Penis
To be honest I never really got Peaches. I once caught the end of one of her shows while i was waiting for 2manydjs or someone to come on. She was belting out fuck the pain away in a naked bodysuit with a beacon of light shining out into the crowd from her vagina. It was like there was a movie premier or exclusive nightclub in her giney or something.
Anyways this sort of higly sexualised, over the top melodramatics isnt really my forte'. Like I know shes a pretty smart lady and im sure theres some statements in her music that makes alot of sence (gender roles, sexuality, feminism, I am woman bla bla bla), I think have a feeling though they get lost somewhere along the way. Like call me ignorant, but if i was chillin at a music festival watching a woman with a broken leg sing about her vagina or wateva whilst getting pushed around stage in a pretty little pink wheelchair by a naked dude chick complete with jugs and wang the last thing I would be thinking is "wow this show really challenges my preconceived notions of gender identity, I should be more open minded...". If you know what i mean.
Gotta give her props for lettin the show go on with her broken leg though. Not like that wuss Bono and his sore back. Pussy.

Stereosonic 2010 Lineup Announcement
Stereosonic lineup was announced today. Seems the Stereosonic crew spent all their money on headliner Tiesto and cant afford a website anymore, with the www.stereosonic.com.au URL redirecting traffic to the stereosonic Facebook page.
Anywho.. its a pretty original lineup to say the least, I don't think anyone could of predicted this one. Plenty of old dogs and plenty of youngens, lots of techno, far to much trance, euro pop godess Robyn and some reggae dude name Luciano? Lets face it its pretty much impossible these days to bring out any kind of mind blowing lineup (name someone playing parklife you havnt already seen 12 times?), keeping this in mind I think stereosoic crew done alright.

Deadmau5 V Rusko... On Like Donkey Kong
I've never understood Twitter really. Apart from stalking celebs, slagging people at the Logies, and getting ur political policies out there I never really understood its use. Then all of a sudden dubstep aficionado Rusko calls Superstar Gimmiky DJ Deadmau5 a "skinny little cunt" sparking the years biggest electro-fued and it suddenly I'm reminded of why god invented Twitter.
So yeah anyways, heres what went down. According to Inthemix Rusko got on his Twitter and is all like...
“so a dj with a HUGE ego last night threw a huge bitchy hissy fit at me last night for smokin weed in the backstage…I told him to fuckoff and he ran for some security like a little pussy bitch!!!!!”
Later on Rusko revealed the pussy bitch to be Deadmaus. In his reply the normally outspoken Deadmau5 decided to take the highroad, and not stoop to Rusko's level or whateva, being the bigger man bla bla bla, he was all like...
“i mean, props to him for ridding my tail to get himself some free publicity and all that… but are the threats really nesciscary? im not one to speak against people who “say stupid shit on twitter” ... because i do it ALL THE TIME… i, however, have never, and will never threaten violence to anyone in that context. it’s fucking childish. so if the little child wants his attention… well look… he’s certainly got it. cool fuckin story bro… but why u mad? anyways, i hope he grows up and hopefully figures out that “making good music” sells your profile, and not making up some dumbfuck dressing room story and including my name in it for fuckin entertainment’s sake. and thats all im going to say about that.”
Could this be the start of a Tupac/Biggy, East/West style dance rivalry? Is Rusko the hardcorest dude in music right now? Is Deadmau5 like a hella pussy? R u a Rusk-Bro or r u a Mau5kateer? Is drive bys the next big thing in dance? do you wish Twitter was aroudn in the 90s?

Suicide Joins MIA to Do Born Free on Letterman
MIA had a stab at authenticity recently, enlisting Suicide's Martin Rev to help her play her new track born free. Was this a bit of a thankyou to the old punk rocker for letting her pinch his seminal Ghost Rider riff? or is appearing to be bros with an old school, unknown, commercially unsuccessful musician some kind of ploy to realign the pop imagine she has found herself resigned to.
Fueled by anything from her billionaire husband, the questionable pseudo political "statements" she appears to be appearing to make in her music, her likeness to Lady Ga-Ga, pregnant performances, mediocre album with shit title (///\\\.;';Y///?????)+ whateva else. Theres never been a shortage of things for people to talk about. MIA has been coping it on the intraweb from Pitchfork, Diplo, and everyone in between. So rather then adding to this seemingly one sided argument, I might just swing this post around to a bit of a lesson on suicide and how awesome they were...
In the early 70s Suicide were the very first band to use the words "punk music" to promote one of their concerts on a flyer. A word they took from celebrated music journalist guru Lester Bangs. Playing alongside bands like the New York Dolls and The Stooges, Suicide became very hated for their electronic, vintage synth, drum machine sounds, and minimal style that the world just wasnt really ready for, Getting booed off stage alot of the time and sometimes their concerts ending in riots. Listening to their albums today its very easy to see how important Suicide were. The term "influential" gets thrown around a fair bit i know but the term could not be any more fitting to Suicide with the following list of bands crediting suicide as a big influence: Panthére, Gang Gang Dance, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Sisters of Mercy, She Wants Revenge, Henry Rollins, Joy Division/New Order, Soft Cell, Nick Cave, Cassandra Complex, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Radiohead, Kap Bambino, Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, Michael Gira, Sonic Boom, Loop, The Fleshtones, Ric Ocasek of The Cars, R.E.M., The Kills, and Bruce Sprinsteen.
Nuff said.
I guess if ur tryin to get some street cred by hookin up with another artist, going with a "band's band" like Suicide is a pretty good choice. One thing is for certain though, she definatly knows how to get people talking. Just take this review by FourFour (the entire review is made up of about 41 other reviews, all hyperlinked of course)
(Ps why is it cool this year to release intentionally shithouse albums?)

MGMT the last true punks?
After reading the last story about how MGMT pissed everyone off by not playing their hit single Kids recently at the Coachella festival, I believe its time i threw in my two cents about these guys, so here we go...
MGMT are rad and heres why:
I didn't really pay their first album much attention, I didnt mind a Soulwax remix but I think that's as far as it went (to much cheese). So obviously I wasn't to concerned when they toured Australia. I did hear many reports from fans in despair however, talking of MGMT's "dismal", "lackluster" performance at Splendour in the Grass, to which I gave the appropriate consoling responses. I thought quietly to myself "ah well they're shit live performers as well, whatdyaknow". However is it possible there is more to this group then meets the eye?
Recently they released the most anticipated/controversial album of the year "Congratulations". Many things have been written about this album, but in general it goes like this... all their fans are pissed off there's no cool, catchy, hook riddled singles like Kids etc to listen to while they ride their roller blades or wateva. Everyone else just seems confused and are chilling, waiting to see if the "radical departure" pays off. However, After the shit performances, the "weird" album with no singles, and now refusing to play their most popular songs... I'm starting to think that maybe MGMT just like to piss people off? and that makes them ok in my book. In fact when you start to think about it that makes them pretty punk rock really?
Think about it: (a)They seem to have no regard for their fans, their label, or commercial pressures (b)They don't dress like punk rockers which i think makes them pretty punk, (c) They seem to just liek stirring shit and (d) they believe in anarchy (probably?). So next time Flash Delirium comes on the radio and you start whinging about how shit MGMTs latest album is consider this: MGMT dont give a shit hey. And besides, give it a chance caus it is actually a really good album.

Meow Meow Madness!!!
I know I shouldnt post so much about A Current Affair, but when it keeps producing the goods like this little report its just so hard not to. its that damn good. Anyways tonight featured a story on "the new drug craze killing our children"... Meow Meow. Meow Meow (or Mephedrone) is a pretty new drug that was starting to become pretty popular back when it was legal and u could order it online. It has an effect that lies somewhere between coke and ecstasy, which makes this video even funnier...
Highlights include the Reefer Madness-esque drug binge dramatisations, some guy describing his hallucinations and his "eating disorder" he has now developed, oh yeah and the same guy telling how the drug turned him into a cat. enjoy...

Hey Dad... Stop Touching Me
This week channel Nine's pinnacle of journalism excellence (A Current Affair) showed just why it is the pinnacle of journalism excellence by "uncovering" news that things weren't as they allegedly seemed on the set of Australia's favorite nineties sit-come Hey Dad.
Child actor Sarah Monahan has confided to A Current Affair (and Womens Weekly) the pain of her ongoing ordeal of being molested by her then on-screen dad Robert Hughs. Sarah also stated she was not Hughes's only victem (poor Nudge?) and that the molestation went on the whole period the show was on air.
Whether Hughes is guilty or not guilty of these allegations is not the point (hes obviously guilty just look at those child predator glasses, the way the screen goes distorted when his face appears, and the way he smiles in slow motion like a sexual deviate in A Current Affair's Story?). No, the point to all this drama is as we journey deep into the 21st century, we as a society need to begin questioning the relevance of the police and court system. Why do we need them when wonder show A Current Affair is there to not only investigate these horrid crimes, but also offer financial compensation to the victims? Monahan obviously has no faith in the police service as she never even called them?
That being said maybe the police need to brainstorm because they appear to be heading the same way as the post office (remember them?) its time for police to workout where they fit into our society, as fighting crime doesnt appear to be their forte any longer.
on a lighter note id like to welcome Matty Johns back to television with the premier of his new show on channel Seven tonight

*Porn Banker Update*
A couple of days ago I posted a video from the channel 7 news where a bank worker was caught in the background of a report looking at porn. Well it has now surfaced that he was looking at nude pics of Miranda Kerr from a recent saucy GQ shoot. With the poor worker now looking like losing his job Miranda Kerr has come out and spoken in his defense saying that she hopes his bosses dont come down to hard on him and if there is a petition going around to save his job she would most certainly sign it (mmmmmm she can sign my petition any day).

Men at Work Lose Kookaburra Case
For those that may of been following this. Men at Work have lost their plagiarism case, with a court ruling that they stole the "kookaburra sits in the old gum tree" flute riff for their 1983 hit "down Under". The band is now looking at coughing up 40-60% of thesongs earnings to the songs origanal creator Marion Sinclair, who wrote the classic australian riff in 1935 for a girl guides jamboree. This is a case that origanlly came about after attention was brought too the song after triple j's Lindsay McDougall ran a competition for listeners to name where the riff was from late last year.

Fake Daft Punk Exposed
The fake Justice tracks didnt fool me for a second, but i gotta say i thought Daft's leak The Crash was the real deal for sure. Then when Kenye frothed out on the track on his fashionista blog i thought it was confirmed, but no...
According to urb its the work of Pilotpriest (whoever that is?) and the track is really called body double. So is this new marketing gimmick going to take off? who knows...? i dont really have time to discuss, i have to get my new Avalanches track finished off. peas
